Windows Vista beta edition of scanner unable to run in safe mode
Error 0x04100407 - Microsoft's canned answer:
To run Windows Live OneCare safety scanner, you must be logged in as administrator on your computer. Please log in using an administrator user name and password, then rerun the scan. If you continue to encounter this error, it may be that the scanner is down temporarily, in which case we recommend you try your scan again at a later date.
To make matters worse Vista is a little different:
If you use Vista (UAC), you should launch Internet Explorer as an administrator to perform an online scan. To do this, try right-clicking the Internet Explorer icon in the Start menu and select "Run as administrator" from the context menu.

Run CleanDisk - Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools. Just follow the instructions that the program tells you what you can safely delete. These parameters are also used by the scanner. The execution of the clean registry scanning is not recommended. These cleaners, not just this one, 14 systems were damaged in recent months as I know. Microsoft did not participate in this forum in over two years. What are the chances they have done any development on cleaner to keep it updated. Customize Run (blue) and uncheck Registry Scan. Or you can run the analysis and use of (^) and (v) allow you to expand or contract selections to deselect specific issues.
As for running in Safe Mode, you normally do that. What happens is that only processes that are needed to boot the system up and running are used. This means that most applications / hardware does not work. This includes your Antivirus / Antispyware / Firewall, etc. If you were in safe mode the screen is strange and SAFE are shown in the corners of your monitor. To exit, you simply restart normally. I do not know what safe mode you refer to, but I hope this is not what I mean. And no, I do not know why they call SAFE.

Window Safety and Preventing Falls
Q. I am looking for a way to secure my third-floor windows to prevent an accidental fall. Bars on the windows like the best option, but are much more expensive than window locks or holds.
